Virtual Nerd
I was just introduced to a website that has math tutorials called Virtual Nerd. I was introduced at a presentation at SVCUE. The presenter showed us while mentioning that her students do not like the Khan Academy videos. I have always found that the Khan videos were the weakest part of the website. (I use the site primarily for practice problems for my students.)
Other math teachers in the presentation also spoke up about the limited quality of the Khan videos. One teacher said in particular, students with auditory processing problems, really could not manage with them. This continues a long history of informed professionals I've encountered not being that big on Khan videos.
So I'm very interested in showing to my students this website. It's a bit more visually appealing, the videos are generally short and to the point (another knock on Khan videos), and it's a bit more personable with an actual person visible.
At the very least, I would recommend these videos to students as a good resource of extra/alternative examples to use and learn from in completing their work.
